Jean Power- Week 7- Copper and drop bead pendant

simple wirework pendant this week, worked in copper with a lovely swarovski bead in a great colour.
I wanted to make something simple that could be explained in just words- a lot of my pieces in the coming weeks will also feature pieces that fit that category.

Week 7 - Melissa Muir

Catch up time here. I have actually been making a lot of jewelry on time, but rarely on theme. I haven't been able to post due to an incompatibility between my camera and new computer. So there are about to be a lot of posts from me just now. ;)

These earrings were made for Nancy (Canyonhiker) for the sweetheart swap. They are carnelian and sterling silver.

I actually had such a hard time trying to think of something she might like. Have you seen the glorious wonders that woman makes? ;)

Celtic Blush

This is the first time I've used rhodocrosite. I am definitely NOT a pink person, but I was drawn to the depth in this stone, and the interesting patterns. It was sitting pretty on my worktable until I devised an interesting way to frame it. I not sure if this experiment works, but I'll wear it for a while, methinks. 26 and 30g silver, some sterling beads to tie it together, and lots of "Hmm, I think I'll weave it this way, to see where it leads." There is something that doesn't sit right with me about it, but I can't put my finger on it. Feedback would be appreciated! Thanks for looking, Perri

Week 7 - Amore :: mrs beadsley

So very late on this piece - to see my (really good) reason check out my blog .  So, for this weeks piece, I used some 12 gauge copper wire and formed it into a heart shape - hammered it (oh so much fun), filed all the rough edges, buffed it to a fine shine, then paired it with some beautiful flashy (huge)moonstone heishe and some faceted red beads I found at my LBS.  The red beads were not marked but through some research I believe they are rhodochrosite.  I finished it off with a hand formed copper clasp.  The necklace is about 19" long.

Week 7 -- Amethyst bracelet

This eclectic wrap bracelet was the theme of my class last weekend. Large amethyst rounds were wrapped in square 18g sterling wire, interspersed with different silver beads, with a handmade clasp and a faceted amethyst and bead dangle. I'm considering giving this one a liver-of-sulfur patina, but not yet sure...

Week 7- Paisley Please

This is the necklace that I intened for last week but could not get photographed.  This isn't a great photo but it is SO much better than I had previously.

The large briolette is a blue sapphire, obviously not AAA because it has almost no clarity, but that is what I liked about it.  I paired it with tiny blue sapphires in the paisley, lapis lazuli on the chain, a small pmc charm with a small sapphire briolette dangling below it.

I obviously used Iza's tutorial on the big stone.  I love this design and thank Iza over and over for creating the tutorial!  I am fasinated with paisley curves and old world feeling and have fallen in love with Magdelena's work with them and tried to create one of my own.  It was a learning experience.  I am currently working on a wire version of the heart in my avatar.  Hopefully it will be a project in a future week,

Week Seven - Amore

I took pictures of a great heart piece for the YOJ Week 7 - Amore but of course, lost the photos. I was sad because I had made my own photo box and the pictures turned out superb. :(

In it's place, I am submitting this piece. I guess it could be Amore, since I made it with love for my mother.

I don't know the stones, but they are beautiful and the wire is copper.

Week 7 Amore (Late)

I apologize for the tardiness.  I made the frame inspired by Cathy Waterman's designs and I thought the heart shape would be appropriate for this week's theme.  It was difficult to keep the shape identical with all the hammering.  The sharp angles are soldered.  For more pictures, please check out my blog.  Thanks for looking!

Week 7 AMORE: Swati

                                                             

I chose a large opaque blue Sapphire heart shaped stone - 103 ct, because this stone signifies someone who I'd think of when given the word "Amore" :-). So I made this in his honor....for myself. The stone did not have the notch on top for that classic heart shape, so I made it with wires. The stone is deep, so I have created a "bezel" for it by making a double wire frame and weaving the stone in between. In this picture you only see the face of the stone, so you see the upper frame of the "bezel" bordering the stone. I have hung an Aquamarine briolette  at the bottom of the pendant. The chain I have hung it on is not its chain, I will be making its chain later.

Week 7-Aquarius

I mixed up week 6 and 7,and then got so far behind this week.  Here are some earrings with the 'starstone' of Aquarius, turquoise.  Wire-wrapped and oxided. You can tell how my week has gone, I am late, couldn't sign in,had to wait to get into the site, lost the earring wire when I tumbled the earrings... I could go on and on, but wanted to post even though I don't like the earrings.  Hopefully I will do better next week.
