Jean Power- week 19- Geometric 2.8.2

Another of the pieces in my Geometric Beadwork Series.
Based on a piece I did entitled Geometric 2.8.1 (collar for a rangoli girl) this was was beaded entirely in black and white to see how altering the changing of the colours would affect the final look.
I'm really pleased with the result and it's incredibly striking in real life and looks great when worn- if I do say so myself!

Growth

I Apple_martini think of green when I think of growth- green and spring time.  However, once the piece was finished it fit with the martini theme I've been on.  Late but posted.

Week 19 - Taurus... off theme

Not on theme again. I just cant seem to relate to astrological signs... I don't believe at all in the horoscope.
I made this very simple earrings that truly showcase the beauty of these marquise briolettes I bought a few months ago. They're soo pretty and big, they measure 1.8 cm x 1.4 cm. I used also garnet and a coin pearl, goldfilled wire and some gf tiny balls.

Ruby Giant

238a2238dThis ring was made on request for my customer - Ela. She's sent me this gorgeous polished ruby cabochon and asked for a ring similar to Medusa. I've closed the stone in a setting of fine silver in various shades - dark and bright.
The crown of the ring measures 3.8cm by 3.4cm and is 1.7cm high. More pictures in my gallery.

Thank you :)

Week 19 - Janice

I'm late getting things posted, life took over for a while and I've only tinkered with the jewelry so I have a lot of WIPs or components to come back and post, but I'll start here with my first ever attempt at a hollow ring. I made this half-baked from a tutorial and half-baked from books....its got horrible fire scale and other issues, but it was a great learning experience. I may add a stone or two but they have to be tiny, the top is only a couple mms at the top and gets a little wider at the bottom. Anyway - here 'tis:

Tarus

Mommylove This is not the typical tarus piece.  I made it for my mother.  Her birthday is in May.  So this piece was designed with her in mind.

Week 19: Off topic and late

This is a cradle necklace I made for a new mum who is absolutely in love with her baby, like most new mums :-). Her sister-in-law commissioned me to make something for her.

The sentiment I used behind this necklace is, "You will always be cradled within my heart, my child, my love, my Tarun". The baby's name is Tarun. I have made the framework of the cradle with 16 gauge half hard sterling silver wire. Soldered it together for sturdiness. The weaving is done with fine silver wire 26 gauge. The heart inside is made with PMC, and the name "Tarun" was etched on it. I had stamped the name befire, but when I fired the PMC, it all melted and erased it. This was the first time I have used PMC, so I guess I didn't really know how to use it properly. I strung a green fresh water pearl to the heart because green is the color of the heart chakra. I added 4 lovely Turquoise beads to the pendant loops. The chain is a rolo, and the clasp is hand made with 16 gauge sterling silver, and I have wrapped fine silver wire with a tiny white pearl on it.

There are many more pictures, but I can't put this on my blog right now because the new mum in question checks my blog regularly! LOL! I'll add this to my blog once she gets her gift from her sister-in-law.

MOMMAKAT: Taurus

The last few astrological signs I couldn't really get into-  I'm not really sure why, maybe it's just a timing issue. I felt better about this one, and the work and details I put into it shows I think. I started out with 16GA wire as the frame, and bound it with 24Ga round and 22GA half round sterling silver. One of the stones for Taurus is Sapphire so I used a large vintage Sapphire Swarovski crystal from my stash. I wanted the crystal to have movement, which it does, but the frame isn't quite large enough to allow swinging as I envisioned. I might redo that part at some point. I'm quite pleased with the wrapping and herringbone wrapping on this piece however. I've only done a few projects with herringbone weaving, and this piece shows improvement! The "horns" is another piece of 16GA, which I hammered for texture. I think it's abstract enough to appeal to someone who isn't a Taurus, but looks enough like Taurus to make a Taurus person happy with it.  For more info and pictures please check out my blog, thank you!
