Viking Heart -- My Tribute to Denmark Culture
When I think of Denmark, I think of the ancient Viking culture of Denmark and Norway with the elaborate carvings on their ships and their stave churches, such as the amazing wooden portal of the church at Urnes, Norway. These elaborate designs resemble Celtic knotwork, which I love. So I did a little research and found this museum replica brooch design from NordicArts.com, and I found this design dating from the 10th century as well. After some sketching and erasing and redrawing and trying to keep the over-under-over-under pattern straight in my head and on the paper (as much as possible) this is what I came up with--a copper pendant featuring three interlocking circles and lots of curlicues. --Kelley

Very bautifully done.
In Bretagne (a region in northern France where the celtic culture is still very much alive) they still have a 'triskel' in their regional emblem. It symbolises earth, fire and water. They are forever inter-locked: touch one of them and you touch them all.
In this age of pollution and nature abuse, it is an ancient thruth worth remembering.

This is spectacular! Not to mention inspiring! I've often thought about making some celtic knotwork pieces but admit to being too intimdated to begin a project. You make me realize it can be done - but I'm probably still too intimidated to give it a go. :P lol Maybe one day ... meanwhile, I'll drink in the beauty of this piece for some time to come.
