Fire to Ashes

I had these side drilled pearls in grey, gold and natural that seem to fit this category. Pretty simple with the clasp in front and a beautiful oxidized silver bead to dangle from it but I can finally see my way to catching up with the next few entries and I'd love to stick with this as this is an especially creative season we are entering into.

Beads by Laura Sparling in rich red and icey blue on looped sterling silver wire. This style of pendant is one of my best sellers - most of them don't have time to make it on to my website!

 

Week 35 - Floral Ladybug Lariat

Polymer clay pendant and beads.  The floral design is also on the backside of the ladybug.  I usually polish my clay to a high gloss finish, but this 3D simple design, needed a matte finish.  I'm not happy with the satin cord, its too slippery, it frays and will change it out.   The wire is niobium.  Since I made it lariat style, it can be worn long or wrapped for a choker.  -Nancy

Midnight Fire was inspired by the cool light that emanates from planets in the sky, at night. I used Cultured pearls for the moon and stars lights and 18k yellow Gold for the Fire.

Week 35 - ShaktiPaj

The second of the teasers, again, 2 views. Same wire - 22, 26, and 28 g, same silver beads, boring old Swarovski.This one surprised me because it didn't turn out as I had envisioned. In some ways, it was better! Thanks for looking, Perri

week 35 - progression of week 32

I created this as an experiment for week 32, working with knotting silk cord.  Someone recommended I double the thread to add thickness and better balance to the piece.  I was forced to be creative since the holes in the stones wouldn't allow for a doubled cord, and I tried some knotting on the cord between the stones and beads.  I am not completely pleased with this particular attempt, but I am on to something I am sure :)

Week 35 — Arctic Fire

This piece was made a few weeks ago, but I couldn't find the time to write my entry in English for here and in French for my other journal.  I'm trying to catch up now.  My son's teacher left me a bag full of beads and old necklaces that she acquired in Panama last winter, and she lets me wait for inspiration or for the right timing to dig into the bag and come up with something.  No deadline, no pressure...  She saw my Salsa necklace from week 30, and asked me if I could think of something in a similar style using her beads.  She also loves hearts... she is absolutely crazy about hearts, so I ordered a Sapphire blue Swarovski heart pendant for her, and made this piece.  The small bicones and the cat's eye cubes were added to her beads, and incorporated to my signature stitch in stainless steel wire.

Week 35 - Midnight Fire - Ellen/rubystar

Many of you have seen this piece on the forum already, so please forgive the repeat. I gotta catch up somehow, though, and this was created during week 35. It represents the theme of midnight fire in several ways to me, not the least of which is the fact that I burned the midnight oil getting it done in time for our final dress rehearsal!  :-P

As you can see, it was proudly worn by the Mother Abbess in our production of Sound of Music. And let me say that it sure looked better than the fake-wood plastic cross that came with the costume! Everyone loved the fact that the Swarovski crystals were actually made in Austria, where our story took place.

As a Christian, I believe that the cross itself represents a midnight fire of sorts, from the fact that Jesus died on one on an afternoon that turned as dark as midnight and paid for our sins for three days in the fires of hell, to the fact that both cold, lonely midnights and hot, fiery situations in our lives can bring us to our knees at the foot of the only One who can give us comfort and peace, the One whose very symbol is that cross.

Now that Sound of Music has closed, this particular cross will live again to be auctioned off at a fundraiser for our theatre company, to take place at a lovely winery at the end of November. I'll let you know how that goes!

Midnight fire

A whole month behind - yikes! I've been making the jewelry, but finding no time to photograph. I'd imagine midnight fire to be white hot, hence this cool silver set hammered, domed and patinaed.

week 35 - weirdlywired

Catching up...always catching up!
This was the last of a strand of Fossilized Coral and most of these had very little detail, but a nice creamy color, so I thought caging them would be an acceptable use. LOS'd, tumbled and off to a good and appreciative home.
