Week 44: Copper Fibula w/ Fused Silver Heart
Here's last week's project, finally photographed -- a copper fibula with a fused silver center. I fused scrap silver and then domed it in the dapping block. It's soldered in place with paillons. The pin has a solid back with stamped tabs to hold it together. A piece of tubing was brazed onto the back for the pin assembly. You can't see it in the photo, but the inside of the backing was heat-treated to a vivid red color, which shows through the spaces in the silver. Like a little surprise.
Just gorgeous! I love the mix of colors and textures - great job.
